Emily Eaton is an associate professor in Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Regina. She is also the author of the book Faultlines, which takes a look at the environmental, social, and economic impacts of the oil and gas industry in rural Saskatchewan.
Inspectors struggle to keep up
As of September 2017, Saskatchewan has just 19 field inspectors 8 related field emplyees to oversee some 136,000 wells and 118,000 km of pipelines and flowlines, with spills happening across the provinces on a daily basis.
